Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using slip. ("the Platform", "we", "us", "our"), you ("the User") agree to be legally bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately cease use of the Platform. Continued use constitutes unconditional acceptance of these Terms and any amendments thereto.

2. Description of Service

slip. is an anonymous two-way messaging platform that enables registered account holders to receive anonymous messages from unregistered senders via a unique shareable link. The Platform does not verify the identity of anonymous senders and does not guarantee the accuracy, authenticity, or sincerity of any message sent through the Platform.

3. Eligibility

Use of the Platform is strictly limited to individuals who are 16 years of age or older. By creating an account or sending a message through the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently delete any account where eligibility cannot be confirmed, without notice or liability.

4. User Accounts

Account holders are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for all activity conducted through their account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account. We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to secure your account credentials. You may not transfer, sell, or assign your account to any third party.

5. Anonymous Senders

Anonymous senders are identified solely by a browser-generated unique identifier stored locally on their device. This identifier is not linked to any personally identifiable information held by us. If the sender clears their browser data, access to their thread is permanently and irrecoverably lost. Anonymous senders remain fully bound by these Terms and bear sole legal responsibility for the content they transmit through the Platform.

You agree not to use the Platform to:

7. Content and Liability

We do not create, endorse, review, or take responsibility for any content transmitted through the Platform. All content is generated solely by users. We expressly disclaim all liability for any content posted, transmitted, or received through the Platform, including but not limited to content that is defamatory, offensive, illegal, or otherwise objectionable. You acknowledge that by using an anonymous messaging platform, you may receive unsolicited, offensive, or distressing messages. You assume full risk in this regard.

8. Reporting and Moderation

The Platform provides a reporting mechanism for users to flag content that violates these Terms. We review reports at our sole discretion and reserve the right to remove content, suspend accounts, or permanently ban users without prior notice or explanation. We are under no obligation to act on any report within a specific timeframe or at all, and we accept no liability for our moderation decisions or the consequences of any unmoderated content.

9. Privacy and Data

We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. Message content is stored solely to enable the two-way conversation feature and is permanently deleted when the associated thread is deleted. 10. Law Enforcement and Legal Requests

We will cooperate fully with competent law enforcement authorities and comply with valid court orders, subpoenas, or other legally binding requests. Where legally permissible, we will disclose any information in our possession relevant to such requests. You acknowledge and accept that no communication platform is entirely private and that information may be disclosed pursuant to legal obligation. We accept no liability for any disclosure made in compliance with applicable law.

11. Premium Subscription

The Platform offers a free tier subject to usage limitations and a paid premium subscription offering expanded access. We reserve the right to modify, restrict, or discontinue any tier at any time without liability. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store payment card information. All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law. We reserve the right to revoke premium access in the event of a breach of these Terms without refund.

12. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the Platform settings. Upon deletion, your profile, threads, and associated messages are permanently and irrecoverably removed. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion, without notice or liability. Termination does not affect any accrued rights or obligations prior to the date of termination.

13. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Platform, including its design, code, branding, and functionality, are owned exclusively by us. Nothing in these Terms grants you any licence or right to use our intellectual property without express written consent. You retain ownership of content you create, but by submitting content through the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display such content solely for the purpose of operating the Platform.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no representations regarding the availability, reliability, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of the Platform. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Your use of the Platform is entirely at your own risk.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, emotional distress, or reputational harm, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the three months preceding the claim, or R100, whichever is greater.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless slip., its operators, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

17. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Amendments take effect upon publication on this page. The effective date will be updated accordingly. Continued use of the Platform following publication of amendments constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of South Africa.
